Our 2023/2024 French theatre play

Chasse au trésor - an immersive event for EYFS to Year 6 pupils

Our foreign language play was performed by an English actor and a native French performer.  Throughout each of our 1h performances we encouraged assembly participation and invited over a dozen volunteers to join us on stage.

Our focus was on communication.  We used mime, repetition, games, singing and dancing to encourage the pupils to practise and consolidate their Modern Foreign Language, developing their listening, speaking and cognitive skills (problem-solving, critical thinking, and memory).

Our Chasse Au Trésor story:

Our story followed Scarlett, an English girl who accidentally found herself in the French part of an international treasure hunting fair. With no time to head to the English one, she and the pupils teamed up to help her reach her goal. Together they met a ringmaster, Madame Saison and a kooky sailor.

In this 1h performance packed with fun activities, key sentences and vocabulary were explored, such as:

  1. Colours
  2. Numbers
  3. Clothes
  4. Fruits and Vegetables
  5. Seasons
  6. Birthdays
  7. Directions
  8. Family
  9. Animals
